My second big project for my Design for Journalists class was to create a newspaper design. I oversee the design of my section every week. I figured, how hard could this be? My designer, Marian, is fantastic and always does the job quickly. It's one of those things that doesn't look so difficult until you try it.
This thing took forever. I was up until 5am doing it in the newsroom. However, I really was having fun with it. Designing IS fun - I'm kind of doing a role reversal here.
The Temple News honestly has a fantastic design. I mean, we've won many awards for our design. So I used it as inspiration and it's taught me a lot about how things should look. I used a lot of those lessons on this layout.
All the pictures you see are mine, aside from the picture of Daniel Radcliffe. My proudest aspect of this design is the two skyboxes. I created them from scratch... in Photoshop. It took me two hours to do them both. But it was worth it, because I think they look fantastic.
