Lint Licker!

I almost never think commercials are funny, but I actually think I've come across my favorite commercial of all time. It's this new Orbit gum commercial where a wife, her husband, and his mistress have an altercation where they "curse" at each other using non-curses. This concept of the non-curses has been done before, but I just think it's the acting that makes it a riot.

Wife: Did you think I wouldn't find out about your little doo-doo head cootie queen?
Mistress: Who are you calling a cootie queen, you lint licker!

Nothing but Entourage

I watched the first half of Season 4 of Entourage tonight. I feel like I'm going through withdrawl whenever the latest episode ends. The writing has gotten so sharp and smart - I couldn't be more happy with the way the series is going. I NEED MORE!!

Zootopia and a VERY famous manager

Kym took me to the Z100 Zootopia concert today! Among the huge list of performers was the Dutchess herself, Fergie! We totally got down to her set list. It was crazy.

Probably the most notable occurrance of the night was when we were getting our tickets checked. Standing right next to us was Larry Rudolph. Larry Rudolph is Britney Spears' manager. I recognized him because I've seen him interviewed many times on VH1.

He set Britney on the road to stardom and was her manager through it all, up until October 2004 when she fired him because he didn't endorse her marriage to Kevin Federline.

However, after the divorce, she reconciled with Larry and re-hired him in November 2006.

So yeah, we stood next to Britney Spears' manager tonight.

"I'm a little hungry. I could go for something fergalicious!"
-Fergie, as she cleverly transitioned into "Fergalicious"

Tony made the right choice

Spring Awakening received the most Tony nominations this year - 11 - and rightfully so. In addition to almost everything, it is nominated for Best Musical, which it's surely going to win. I predict that, like last year's Jersey Boys, this show is going to blow up after the Tony's.

That's why it's awesome that James, Anna, and I already have tickets for early July!

I saw the show in March and it blew me away. It's incredibly moving, with beautiful music and a killer cast. Aside from the two parent characters, no one in the cast is over the age of 24. These kids are phenomenal and totally rock the stage. I'm so happy for them because this cast is going to sweep the Tonys and is going to be the hottest thing on Broadway. And they deserve it.

All they say is “Trust in what is written.”
Wars are made, and somehow that is wisdom
Thought is suspect and money is their idol
And nothing is okay unless it’s scripted in their Bible
But I know there’s so much more to find
Just in looking through myself and not at them

Strange career decision

I'll never understand why Lindsay Lohan does what she does.

Her public image couldn't be worse. She gets no positive press. Choosing a role like the character she plays in Georgia Rule is a dangerous decision. By playing an uber-brat who basically acts like a whore, Lindsay risks cementing that image into the minds of the audience as who she is in real life.

I didn't see much dignity in her role in Georgia Rule. It was one of the trashiest characters I've ever seen in film. And what's worse is that the characteristics of the character match-up exactly with the person the media insists that Lindsay is.

That's why taking this part probably wasn't the best decision Lindsay could have made.

Georgia Rule had to be one of the strangest, most disjointed movies I've ever seen. Not only was it annoyingly undecided as to whether it wanted to be a comedy or a drama, but it was also deceptively marketed - almost deviously. It opened on Mother's Day weekend. The trailer basically said, "Mothers, take your daughters to see this heart-warming film about three generations of women who overcome their differences and unite." This film is incredibly family-inapropriate. It totally earns its R-rating and was downright trashy.

Strange movie. Strange career choice.

Spider-Man 3: Biggest EVER

Wowsa! Spider-Man 3 just trumped Pirates 2 for the biggest opening weekend at the box office - $148 million! Now that's something to talk about. I'm actually happy to say that I was part of that. My friends and I saw it the first showing Sunday morning (we wouldn't touch a night showing). It was kinda funny, because it was basically split down the middle between those of us who loved it or hated it. I was one of the ones that loved it. It wasn't as well constructed as 2, but it was still pretty damn good in my opinion.

Farewell Dinner: Junior Year

To celebrate the conclusion of our junior year of college, the group went out (as we always do) for our Farewell Dinner this past Saturday night. This year, we dined at Stephen Starr's homage to the Brady Bunch house, "Jones." We all looked rather fetching this night, so to show off the glitz, glamour, and the hotness, here are the members of our little group.

My new job

I have a new job! I am the new managing editor of The Temple News! After being Opinion Editor for two full years, the thought of having something new to tackle is wonderful. I am so excited about new challenges and new duties. This job is exactly what I wanted - to be deeper involved in the production of TN for the sake of the paper, the staff, and for me so that I can learn more.

Being Opinion Editor was fantastic. It was such an important two years. But it's definitely time to leave that roll behind and tackle something new. Here's to next year!
